Maple Bacon French Toast
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
Egg mixture:
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups half-and-half cream
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1 tbs brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
Topping:
- 6 slices Field Bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- Maple syrup
Directions
- Grease a 9×13-in. baking dish. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the 10 egg-mixture ingredients. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture. Arrange slices in baking dish. Pour any remaining egg mixture over top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove from refrigerator a 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, combine the first 8 topping ingredients and then spread evenly on top.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with syrup.
