In a large bowl, whisk together the 10 egg-mixture ingredients. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture. Arrange slices in baking dish. Pour any remaining egg mixture over top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Remove from refrigerator a 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, combine the first 8 topping ingredients and then spread evenly on top.
Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with syrup.
